Oklahoma State's 2027-28 scholarship chart pays out-of-state freshmen $9,500 to $15,000 a year based on ACT or SAT score and GPA, or $6,000 to $9,000 a year with no test score. Oklahoma residents get $1,000 to $3,000 a year, or $750 to $1,000 on GPA alone. Every award is four years long.

Oklahoma State University publishes a full grid for both residents and non-residents, and unlike many schools in this group, both charts include a no-test path. Compare it with in-state rival University of Oklahoma, whose chart requires a test score and sends test-optional applicants to holistic review instead. The Academic Excellence Award for Oklahoma residents:

24-25 ACT or 1160-1220 SAT$2,000$1,500$1,000

Without a test score, residents get $1,000 a year with a 3.5-4.0+ GPA or $750 with a 3.25-3.49 GPA. All amounts are per year for four years.

The part that surprises people: the no-test path costs less than you'd think

For out-of-state students, the gap between submitting and not submitting a score is smaller than at most chart schools. A 3.75 GPA with no test score gets $9,000 a year. Adding the lowest qualifying score (a 24 ACT or 1160 SAT) raises that to $11,000, a $2,000 difference. At Oklahoma, the same student without a score wouldn't be placed on the chart at all.

The other thing to notice: GPA and test score trade off evenly. On the out-of-state chart, each GPA band is worth $500 a year and each test band is worth $1,000 a year, so moving up one ACT band beats moving up one GPA band.

How Oklahoma State counts your GPA and scores

  • Highest GPA counts. Oklahoma State uses your highest cumulative GPA on the transcript, weighted or unweighted, converted to a 4.0 scale.
  • Superscores are accepted. Official ACT superscores from ACT count; the ACT essay doesn't.
  • One award only. You receive the single highest-value award you qualify for among the assured and partnered scholarships (which also include National Merit and the state's Rising Scholar awards).

Deadlines

Oklahoma State lists three scholarship dates: November 1 (early opportunity), February 1 (priority) and August 15 (final).

What this means for you

  • Out-of-state students: a score is worth submitting, but not essential. The no-test path still pays $6,000 to $9,000 a year.
  • Aim for the next ACT band before the next GPA band. On the out-of-state chart, a test band is worth twice as much.
  • Apply by November 1 for the earliest consideration.
  • Compare it with Oklahoma, Kansas State and Kansas, or check all charts at once with the scholarship finder.
